Farm Visits in Buckden

In May, Bishop Nick attended a Lambing Service at Hubberholme Church. One of the speakers was Chris Akrigg, a local hill farmer, who spoke wittily, informatively and movingly about the situation for farmers in the area this year. Chris also gives hugely enjoyable - and free - tours of his farm (sponsored by Natural England), which are ideal for small church or youth trips.

The tour (for at least 4 people) lasts about 2 hours but can be tailored to suit any age group, ability or line of interest and visiting times are very flexible.

Manor Farm, Cray (B6160, just north of Buckden) is a family run hill farm with 800 Swaledale sheep and 50 suckler cows and three recalcitrant sheep dogs. It's in a lovely setting with beautiful views.
