Former hospital chaplain and rural dean, Canon John Bearpark will celebrate the golden jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood on Sunday, 23 September.
John, who has spent the whole of his ministry in the Bradford Diocese, will celebrate the Eucharist at the Church of the Ascension in Settle, where he lives in retirement with his wife Dorothy. Parishioners from his former churches will join in the celebration – the service starts at 10am.

John served his curacy at Holy Trinity, Bingley with St Wilfrid’s, Gilstead (1961-64) and was priest-in-charge of St Hugh’s, Baildon for three years before becoming vicar of St Saviour’s, Fairweather Green for 11 years. He was vicar of Steeton combined with being part-time chaplain of Airedale Hospital for 17 years (1977-94) and then moved to Bentham, where he was vicar of St Margaret’s Church and Rural Dean of Ewecross for seven years before retiring to Settle.
