Repairs to Buttershaw Tower

A £225,000 scheme to restore the tower at St Paul’s, Buttershaw - a public landmark in a prime position - is well underway.

The restoration work includes dismantling and re-building the upper course of the spire, and other work includes repairs to the roof and bell tower and the replacement of rainwater downpipes.

English Heritage have provided a grant of £172,000 and £23,000 has come from a range of other bodies. (£4,000 from the Bradford Diocesan Church Buildings Fund, £10,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation, £2,500 from the Yorkshire Historic Church Trust, £2,000 from the All Churches Trust – Ecclesiastical Insurance Company, £1,500 from the Alan Evans Memorial Trust and £3,000 from a parishioner).

The parish has also raised £3000 through coffee mornings, classic car rides, a table top sale and concerts - with two more concerts and a Christmas market yet to come.
