Social Action

Church in the World serves as a catalyst for projects in the community that meet real needs while answering the Gospel imperative.

We work with grant-making or assistance organisations to provide aid and resources for ideas to become reality.

Links for many of the grant-making organisations with whom we work:

Church Urban Fund - brings the Church together to support Christians called to work with the poorest and most marginalised in England.
Bradford CUF Officer:  Ian Fletcher

Bradford Diocesan Council for Social Aid (BDCSA) - is a small local Charitable Trust, managed by the Diocese of Bradford. Churches and church-based organisations looking for the resources to meet people's needs can apply for grants. Download links to the Aims and Objectives, Application Form, Guidelines for completing the application form, and the Project Cost Statement Form.

Church and Community Fund - aims to develop the Church of England's capacity to engage with the whole community.

Diocesan Mission Committee Fund - helps fund new projects that encourage mission and ministry throughout the Bradford Diocese, and which fall outside existing project areas or existing diocesan funding.   email: Diocesan Office

Acts 435 - allows people to give money directly to those in need.  Managed through a network of churches the goal is to get 100% of the donation to the need as quickly as possible.

St Martin's in the Field Trust - The Vicar’s Relief Fund is part of the St Martin-in-the-Fields Christmas Appeal and is funded by donations made in response to the BBC Radio 4 Appeal. In general, the VRF aims to provide tenancy support rather than family support. Primarily, money from the Christmas Appeal is intended for relief in need.  email: Sylvia Johnson

The Wharfedale Foundation -  a Trust that has its roots in the Christian tradition and supports initiatives that bring people together to gain understanding of other faiths and cultures and to work in partnership to improve the neighbourhoods in which they live.
