Wad Medani Diocese

This Diocese was created in 2011. Launching a Diocese is a great challenge, and Bishop Saman and his team are having a go. Every priest and administrator in the Diocese is a part-time volunteer - only the Bishop is full-time, and he has no salary or house yet! ‘God will provide’ says the Bishop - and a family in the cathedral congregation have loaned the Bishop a house to live in temporarily.
The Diocese has no computers yet and is converting a pastor’s house into a Diocesan office. There are plans to develop over the next 15 years the large plot of land around the cathedral as funding permits. In addition, half of the 22 priests in the Diocese come from South Sudan and have been forced by the Government to leave.
Bradford visitors were privileged to meet the Bishop and the Diocesan staff who are determined to see the church established in Wad Medani and consider all these challenges are opportunities to see God provide. The volunteer Diocesan Secretary asked Bradford to help with funding for schools and latrines and central Diocesan costs.
Prayer needs:
• Maintenance of schools in Kenana, Kosti and Damazin
• Building of church in Kosti, Singa, Sinnar, Damazin, Hesassah, Fao and Gezira
• Completion of Bishop’s House in Medani
• A vehicle for the Bishop get round the Diocese.

The States that Wad Medani Diocese serves are: Gezira, Sennar, White Nile and Blue Nile. Blue Nile is a war front, as Government forces attack people whose political allegiance is with South Sudan.
